Centre Director NSD, Sikkim - BIPIN KUMAR


An Alumnus of National School of Drama, Bipin Kumar has directed approximately 45 plays in various Indian languages with theatre groups in India. His major directional works include "Yayati","Pagla Ghora", "Asadh Ka Ek Din", "Biyaban Mein Ugtey Kinshuk", "Hemlet" in Chhotanagpuri & in Nepali, " Ek Tha Gadha", "Sabhya Sanp"in Bengali, "Trishanku", The Fan", Jati Hai Pucho Sadhu ki", "The Lower Depths", "Sidhartha Gautam Dekhi Buddha Samma Ek Yatra" in Nepali, "Us Raat Ke Baad", "Shakuntala", Chakra Ek Mahayatra" in Nepali, "Garbo", "Hum Hi Apna Aap" in Nepali, "Rajkumar Namgyal" in Nepali, "A Love Story 1950" in Nepali, "Taj Mahal Ka Tender", "Romeo & Juliet" in multi language, "Ashadh Ka Ek Din" in Hindi, Safed Lakeer in Hindi etc.

His teaching experience spans almost 35 years and he has conducted several theatre workshop in different states of India including Sikkim, Jharkhand, Uttarkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal & Madhya Pradesh, organised by National School of Drama, Sangeet Natak Academy & Kshitij Theatre Group Delhi in Collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
Mr.Kumar was also Board Member of School of Performing and Visual Arts IGNOU, New Delhi from 2012 to 2014.

He has received the Jharkhand State Award for Acting in the year 2016.
In 2017 he was felicitated by “Sikkim Kalakar Sang” for the immense contribution in promoting Theatre in Sikkim.

He also conferred with Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Direction in 2016.
Mr. Kumar has also felicitated by Appreciation award by Govt. of Sikkim on the occasion of Republic Day 2021.
Formed Kshitij Theatre Group (Repertory Company) at Delhi in 1988 and have been associated with it since 1988. Founder member of Yuva Rang Manch, Ranchi,Jharkhand 1981.

He has been visiting faculty of Drama Department, Ranchi University and Raja Mansingh Tomer Music & arts University, Gwalior.

In addition he was produced Film, Serial, Documentaries and Educational Film for Ministry of Culture & Doordarshan made by Kshitij Theatre Group & Bharti Productions.
Co-Producer 3 hours Film Named "KAALA HEERA" for Zee T.V. which was telecast on 27th Jan 2001 under special time slot. The film based on chasnala Coal Mine Disaster. Co-Producer a comedy serial of 13 episodes name "GADBAD GHOTALA" for DD-1, was telecast in 1995.He has also produced several Documentaries and Educational Films for Ministry of Culture & Doordarshan.  
Presently, working as the Centre Director at National School of Drama, Sikkim Centre.
